    Hello everyone,

First and foremost – thank you! Thank you for the ongoing work that you are doing in your communities every day. Thank you for taking the extra care it requires to work with smaller, newer farming operations. Thank you for jumping through hoops and reporting requirements. Thank you for providing nourishing food for people in your communities.

Next Thursday, I will provide an update on the Community of Practice call about where we are with farm bill timing in DC. But while we wait on Congress to negotiate a farm bill, we are turning our attention to Secretary Vilsack to make sure he understands how important LFPA is.

The National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition is collecting signatures on a letter to Secretary Vilsack urging him to identify a solution to continue funding for the existing program while we await a farm bill reauthorization. While some states have funding and flexibility for their programs to run beyond April 2025, there are a number that will run out and their farmers are already asking about preparing for next year’s harvest.

Here is how we need your help:

    1. If you have not already signed the letter, please check it out and do so here by September 13th.
    2. Next, help us spread the word and meet our goal of 250 signatures! You can use this outreach toolkit. There is a social media template for a quick & easy post. There is also an email template that you can send out to your networks. Use whichever works best for you and your community.

In case the links are doing something wonky, here they are again:
