Stakeholder Letter Requesting a Farm Bill this Year!
I know that I have been keeping everyone updated about the Farm Bill happenings (and slow down) this past year. There are only a few work periods left this year for Congress to realistically get a Farm Bill done and we want to make sure our elected officials know it is a priority to have a new Farm Bill this year!
I am inviting you to sign on to this letter calling for congressional leaders to pass a resilient, equitable, and sustainable 2024 Farm Bill.
As we’re nearing the expiration of the 2018 Farm Bill extension (10/1/24!), I know we’ve all been feeling the push and pull that a new farm bill is needed urgently, especially for continuing LFPA, but not at the expense of long overdue equity, hunger, and climate provisions. This letter highlights the importance of ensuring that vital food system programs continue to receive meaningful investments in a timely manner and demanding that Congress will not compromise on the needs of our farmers and community members. You can read the letter in its entirety here.
So far, over 450 organizations have signed on in support – can you add your organization’s name to the list before the September 5th deadline? I’d also love for you to extend this invitation to any other aligned organizations in your network.
