GAP certified U Pick orchard?
Hi All, I’m working with a 4 year old apple and peach orchard in Virginia. They focus on Upick but have started doing some wholesale as production increases. They want GAP certification, and I usually hear about and advise separating out U Pick and GAP fields, as that makes everything easier. They are certain they want to have their orchard be both- they want to have the whole thing U Pick, then go in and harvest from ladders for wholesale. Does anyone have experience with having U Pick fields also be GAP certified? I’m thinking at the very least no pets and all visitors must wash hands, but would love to hear about any operations who have pulled it off! Thanks so much for any leads or resources! -Stasia
