We are pleased to announce that the GAP and GMP auditor training classes for 2023 are open for pre-registration. For new auditors, Audit Services Branch is offering 2 classes for the Harmonized GAP standard and 2 classes for the USDA GAP standard. For current auditors of the USDA GAP standards, we are offering 3 USDA GAP refresher update trainings. Attending one of these update trainings is mandatory for existing USDA GAP auditors. All of these trainings will be through the Blackboard online training platform with live instruction.
Harmonized GAP (Includes Harmonized GAP Plus+)
Each of these classes consists of 5 days of live instruction and independent assignments. Classes will begin Monday and end Friday, however times will be determined depending upon the composition of students’ locations. In general, students will be expected to be available 8 hours per day for the entire week. Students must have access to a stable internet connection, Firefox or Google Chrome web browsers, and their own email address to be used for enrollment.

2. Harmonized GAP Training; July 31 – August 4, 2023
USDA GAP Transition
Current auditors or students who wish to be trained in USDA GAP will need to complete (or have completed) a Harmonized Plus+ class, and then attend an online USDA GAP transition training 2-day, online class. Classes will take place Tuesday and Wednesday, however times will be determined depending upon the composition of students’ locations. In general, students will be expected to be available 8 hours per day for both days . Students must have access to a stable internet connection, Firefox or Google Chrome web browsers, and their own email address to be used for enrollment.

USDA GAP Refresher Update (Mandatory)
Current auditors of the USDA GAP standard are required to attend one of the offered mandatory refresher update trainings. The training will be no longer than one day and will cover new changes made to the program. The course will include live instruction through blackboard.

GMP/Food Defense Auditor Training
This year we will be offering one class for existing auditors or Auditors in training (who have completed the Online Harmonized auditor training) for the GMP/Food Defense program. This class will be held online through the Blackboard platform over the course of 4 days. This course will include live instruction and independent assignments.
- GMP/Food Defense; March 13 – 16, 2023
Please note the following highlights:
- Pre-Registration forms (attached) must be completed for all students who wish to register for any course in 2023. Please return by January 20, 2023. ***Please note that new columns requesting billing contact information have been added. The billing contact is the person who will be cc’d when the training bill is sent to the state.
- New auditors are responsible for attending a Produce Safety Alliance course and the Fundamentals of Auditing prior to their class. Fundamentals of Auditing will be offered online through USDA’s Blackboard Platform. Self-Registration instructions for the Fundamentals of Auditing will be sent out after auditor candidate packages are approved.
- Completed, accurate, and signed Auditor candidate packages are due at least 3 weeks prior to each class. Current auditors need only complete the package Coversheet (Appendix II) showing that they wish to add an additional audit service. ***For auditor candidates who have not yet been hired, submit the candidate package as soon as possible.
- Candidate packages are not required for the USDA GAP Updates Refresher training, only completion of the pre-registration form.
