  Introducing myself and MarketLink – SNAP/EBT Assistance for Farms & Markets

  Hello everyone,

  I’m new here so I thought I’d take a minute to introduce myself and the organization I work for. My name is Lisa and I am a Regional Representative with MarketLink<font face=”inherit”>, a grant program which helps farms and farmers markets accept SNAP/EBT.   What is MarketLink?

  MarketLink is a program of the National Association of Farmers Market Nutrition Programs (NAFMNP). In 2019, MarketLink was awarded grant funding from the United States Department of Agriculture (UDSA) with the specific goal of expanding Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) acceptance at direct marketing farmers and farmers markets.

  Through this grant funding, we help farmers and markets through the process in two main ways: by guiding them through the USDA SNAP Retailer Application, and by providing grant funded SNAP processing equipment. The equipment is provided through our partnership with Novo Dia Group (NDG), and covers a free bluetooth card reader and a one year subscription to the SNAP Point-of-Sale App called TotilPay Go (TPG). TotilPay Go also offers additional options for integrated credit/debit payment processing.

  Applicants are not obligated to use the grant funded equipment if they utilize our assistance with the SNAP Retailer Application, and we can help them explore all equipment options available to them. Additionally, they do not need to get our help with the SNAP Retailer Application to utilize the free equipment.

  Online SNAP Purchasing Program

  The MarketLink team also has a few other projects in the works. Earlier this year, we were awarded the Online SNAP Purchasing Grant and are excited to share that we’re in the testing stage of the program. The Online SNAP Purchasing Program will assist direct-marketing farmers and markets in accepting SNAP online via eCommerce platforms. The MarketLink team will provide technical assistance in becoming an authorized Online SNAP Retailer as well as establishing an eCommerce site where online SNAP can be accepted.   Help us spread the word!

  In addition to one-on-one technical assistance for farms and farmers markets, we also can help organizations get the word out to anyone who may be interested in accepting SNAP/EBT. We can help in a few ways:

  • Scheduling a phone call or zoom appointment with organizations to share information and answer any questions about MarketLink

  • Hosting a “How to accept SNAP at your Farm or Farmers Market” Webinar

  • Facilitating SNAP sign up days

  • Joining any events or conferences to share information about MarketLink

  • Providing social media templates to share

  Additionally, we are also currently in the process of building out a resource page for newly SNAP authorized farmers, so if your organization has anything relevant that you’d like us to share, feel free to send them my way too.<div>
