Hello all – next week I’ll be heading to DC with the Center for Science in the Public Interest to educate our federal delegation about how LFPA is positively impacting our state in the hopes that this program can become a more permanent part of our country’s food system policies.

How is everyone else advocating for LFPA these days? Anything you have found resonates especially well with your lawmakers? What questions do you have for the group about how to make the case for continued support?

Here in Nebraska we have been able to connect more people and organizations to our larger food economy. Instead of food pantries working with just grocery stores, they can now work with food processors, farmers, ranchers, and other organizations. These relationships create sustainability in the larger food market that otherwise many people would not interact with. It makes it easier to buy local if you know who is local. I think that can be an enticing fact for lawmakers, knowing that policy they create has great impacts on their representatives economies.
